The KART is a legal document, often in DWG format, that we use for placing the building inside the site limits. It shows the property line and it contains the global coordinates of the site. Before setting up the KART make sure which coordinate system is used in your project, NTM (most likely) or UTM. To familiarize yourself with the difference between the two system read the following .
Most construction projects use a local coordinate system to avoid technical issues. The local coordinate system determines a 0,0,0 origin that is close to the project and has a corresponding coordinate in the global coordinate system. The local coordinates have the same north as the global coordinates and the zero point should refer to the global coordinates without the use of decimals.
DEFINE THE ZERO POINT. It’s useful to have the zero point coordinates marked in the original Euref kart. Use annotate/ordinate dimensions, then explode them.
CREATE A NEW AUTOCAD FILE using a template with the same units as the KART. Then XREF the global coordinates file typing negative coordinates.
BIND AND EXPLODE THE XREF.
