Overview

To efficiently streamline our library of construction elements, we use a content management system. This platform give us the tools to organize, and implement building elements across various projects. Our content management system acts as a centralized hub, enabling us to manage building elements and uphold company-wide standards from a centralized platform, ensuring consistency and efficiency across our projects. The content management system we utilize is Kinship.

To seamlessly access Kinship, it's integrated it directly into Revit. The necessary application was deployed to all A-lab workstations in November, making it easily accessible within the familiar Revit environment. Additionally, Kinship is also available as a , providing flexibility for users who prefer a browser-based experience.

The content management library is currently under construction and will be expanded and updated in the near future. As soon as a building system has been uploaded, you will receive an immediate notification from us. For the current status, you can lookup .

Usage

The main source for the standard content used by A-lab is the Kinship . Kinship are alternative, smaller containers intended for families that suit a specific use case, such as particular client, sector, region or sub-discipline.

To help you quickly and efficiently find the right families for your projects Kinship provides ways to search through the content stored on the website and in your models.

All the content in the website, whether in the library, a collection or a model is indexed across most of its attributes, such as the family name, the manufacturer, the category and its parameters. Any of these values can then be used as search terms.

For fast access to the content from Revit you can use the add-in. The content on the website can be viewed and managed from a standard web browser.

Kinship runs as an add-in to Revit and can be accessed from the Add-In tab. Clicking on this will show the Kinship Panel.

From here you can:

Search from Revit The Kinship add-in gives you access to all your content from within Revit. You can search, browse and load families directly into your active model. Curious to learn more? Click to find out!

Open Kinship for search From the global search page you can search in the library, collections and models to see all of your content. Curious to learn more? Click to find out!

Add to Library Use the Kinship add-in to add content to the library from a network or local drive or from the model that you have open in Revit. Curious to learn more? Click to find out!

Add to Collection Use the Kinship add-in to add content to a collection from a network or local drive or from a model you have open in Revit. Curious to learn more? Click to find out!

Model Sync Status A model joins Kinship the first time it does a Synchronize with Central. For a model to be added to Kinship it must be workshared. Curious to learn more? Click to find out!
