Enscape Vs Lumion

It's important to know the differences between our visualization programs in order to choose the right one that suits the purpose of your project.

Biggest differentials

Lumion
Enscape

Standalone program that syncs from Revit/Rhino, easy for collaboration

Integrated with Revit/Rhino, opens through your software

Materials can be changed within Lumion

Materials needs to be adjusted in the software

No walking VR-experience

Walking VR-experience, requires good PC

Easy to import complex models like furnitures and etc

Could make the file heavy since the models needs to be imported to your software

Can not be used with Grasshopper scripts

Can be used with Grasshopper scripts

Can't sync orthographic views from the software to Lumion

Possible to sync otrographic views from the software to enscape

Can't export the scene to a client

Possible to send hole scene to client

The two softwares provides similar interface and results but the most important differences as mentioned above will guide you towards what software you should proceed in.

Example of scenarios

Have you spent time on setting up ortographic views in Rhino that's in scale? Enscape.

Would you like to collaborate in a project with others? Lumion is easier.

Will you add tons of own models like furnitures? If you'd like to proceed in Enscape then be aware that the Revit/Rhino file will be very heavy due to that you have to import the models directly in there.

Present VR to the client and you don't want standing 360 panoramas or VREX? Enscape, be aware that it requires a good computer to create a pleasant VR-experience.

Are you using Grasshopper with certain scripts like placing existing trees? Enscape.

Never worked in any of the softwares before and would like to do some material studies? I'd say Lumion has a easier interface.

Your client is interested in recieving the whole model with textures and details so they can showcase themselves? Enscape is the only software that offers this service. Depending on the complexity of your project the client might need a strong PC in order to run that file.
