Multiple Models

This guide shows the principles on how to divide a Revit project and when it is necessary. A Revit model should be divided into sub-models if there are:

  • Files larger than 200MB

  • Detached buildings / building blocks

  • Every model can only contain buildings that have identical floor heights

  • Different building construction phases

Where multiple models make up a single project, a container model should be considered.

Examples from B7 and Frysjaparken, every color represents a Revit sub-model in the project
