Model Maintenance checklist

This routine should be executed bi-montly

• No model is larger than 200MB.

• The coordinate system (agreed with the client and the contractor) has been KS in Autocad.

• There are no DWG imports. DWG links are not farer than 30km away from the site, are set to Shared Site / Not shared and pinned.

• There are not duplicated levels.

• All grids are parallell or perpendicular.

• View templates are assigned to the official drawings.

• Minimize view depth, if possible, in elevation, plan, and section views.

• Only annotate elements in the current model, not in links.

• 2D objects dont overrite 3D geometry.

• Use detail items instead of detail groups.

• Delete unused groups. There are no nested groups. There are no rooms in model groups.

• Use model lines to represent information that shows in multiple views. Avoid detail lines or reduced their use to details and schemes.

• The right element category is in use (Example, a railing is railing category and not wall). NB! You can costumize specific generic model families to export as any category in IFC.

• Avoid edit profile in walls, use openings instead.

• All geometry is places in the correct workset. Every Revit and IFC link should be in its own workset.

• Remove redundant or not placed rooms and Areas.

• Audit and optimize all Shared and Project parameters. Use schedules to review that all the main building components parameters are correct.

• Review error warnings to make sure there are no significant issues in the model.

• Purge all unsued elements.

• Audit the file.

• Make a new central file, compact and audit the model periodically.

Revit Do's & Dont's

These are the minimum requirements of a healthy Revit model:

• The project north and true north are the same. For aligning the project geometry in views we use scope boxes.

• The nullpunkt X,Y coordinates (in relation to Euref) have no decimals.

• DGW links don't contain information far away from the project site (the limit is 30km). All the underlay is in 'nullpunkt'.

• Never import a dwg file. Only link.

• There are no duplicated levels. Use scope boxes with levels and grids.

• Use 2D groups only in association with model groups. Otherwise use detail items.

• Never have groups inside groups.

• Your model groups always have hosted elements and hosts together. For example, do not group doors and windows without the walls that are hosting them.

• Avoid to place rooms inside groups.

• Optimize the project parameters. Remove parameters with similar or identical names.

• Dont write data manually with text. Use tags and keynotes.

• Dont hide in view! Use visibility settings, filters and templates.

• Dont use worksets to control visibility! Use design options.
